Assam: Rs180 crore sanctioned for development of Batadrava Than, informs Himanta Biswa

GUWAHATI: Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday informed that the ruling BJP state government had successfully evicted the suspicious foreigners from Batadrava.

While addressing the audience in the of union home minister Amit Shah at Amingaon, Himanta Biswa said that after evicting the illegal settlers, the state government has aimed at developing Batadrava Than into a vibrant cultural and tourism destination on the lines of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

“Batadrava Than which is associated with the life of Srimanta Sankardeva will be developed in the lines of Golden Temple of Amritsar. Rs. 180 crore has been sanctioned for this project,” said Dr. Sarma.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday arrived at Amingaon’s Kumar Bhaskar Brahmanshetra to attend the programme organised by Assam government today.

Shah’s programmes in Guwahati today includes distribution of financial grants to 8,000 traditional Vaisnavite monasteries of the state under the Assam Darshan programme.

He will also lay foundation stones for the development of Batadrava Than as a cultural and tourist destination, new medical college in Guwahati and nine law colleges to be established across Assam.

Shah is scheduled to hold a meeting with party leaders and review the election preparation ahead of the assembly polls scheduled to be held next year in Assam. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) vice president and Assam in-charge Baijayant Panda has said many opposition leaders from Assam are in touch with the party.
