Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister of Environment and Forest, said, "Eviction will be carried out if anyone is found encroaching on forest lands, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, biosphere reserves and other protected areas."

Suklabaidya also asserted that the government will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against encroachments.

Suklabaidya said those who have encroached upon forest lands and other protected areas will not be spared and those eyeing forest lands to desist from such acts.

"We cannot allow encroachments on our forest lands as they serve as oxygen concentrators and also put the lives of our present and future generations at peril," Suklabaidya added.
