Dhaka, November 12, 2019:

As many as 16 people were killed, and 58 others injured, after a head-on collision between two passenger trains in Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 3 a.m. The collision took place when a train bound for Dhaka was travelling on the same railway track as another going to the port city of Chittagong, about 100 km away from Dhaka.

At least 16 bodies were recovered during rescue efforts, although the number could see an increase. 58 people had been found injured so far, and among these, several are reported to be in 'serious condition'. The injured were rushed to hospitals in Bhramanbaria.

It has been reported that most of the passengers were asleep when the collision occurred.
