Assam: As many as 24 arrested in Dhubri for illegal land trade

DHUBRI: At least 24 persons from Assam’s Dhubri district have been arrested by the Dhubri police for allegedly involving in illegal land trading.

Among the arrested, 16 were from Dhubri subdivision and eight from Bilasipara subdivision in the district.

Out of the 24 accused, Abul Hussain from Dhubri Circle, Sajid Khan, and Nilam Nath from Chapar Circle are the three Lat-Mandals who have been arrested, while the other accused persons are businessmen including one doctor.

The arrests have been made based on an FIR lodged by Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri Anbamuthan MP, which is registered as DBB CASE NO 1512/2021, U/S 120 b/420/409/467/468/471 sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police informed that these accused persons are involved in land grabbing cases too.

According to sources, they are also allegedly involved in raising the land value and cheating buyers.

Police also stated that they have all been arrested at different police stations and brought to Dhubri Police Station on Tuesday.

Police started picking the accused on Monday Night.

Later they have been forward to Dhubri district Court while there are speculations that many of the accused persons are absconding and investigation in this regard is on.
