SHILLONG: As many as eight Oxygen generation plants are being installed in Northeast states--Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura.

These three northeast Indian states have buckled up to deal with the COVID crisis supported by the government of Japan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Earlier in the day, the Meghalaya government inaugurated as many as three oxygen generation plants at three Civil Hospitals in Tura, Nongpoh, and Jowai.

This has made emergency oxygen supplies available for COVID patients in need of intensive care.

The plants were officially inaugurated today by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma

with the help of the Japanese government and the UNDP.

The plants have total capacity of about 1,300 beds.

Furthermore,on behalf of Meghalaya, chief minister Sangma extended his heartfelt gratitude to UNDP India and the Japanese Embassy in India for donating the O2 Plants to assist improve the health facilities that “are critical in our fight against COVID-19.
