The Chhatra Ekta Sabha of Rabindranath Thakur University organized a rally in support of the legislation, and more than a hundred students turned up for the rally. However, the attendees, who were headed towards Puroni Bazar Netaji corner, were intercepted on their path by authorities who sent the CAA supporters running helter-skelter.

3 of the protesters were also arrested by police, as they did not have the necessary permits to stage a demonstration.

To control the situation and bring it back within control, police personnel were deployed to the University.

"We had organized the rally against the misinformation against the CAA. For people such as Sharjeel Imam and JNU students. We oppose that. However, we were not allowed as we did not have the permit."
