3-year-old Naga girl visits doctor alone; photo wins the internet

KOHIMA: A 3-year-old girl in Nagaland went to get a check-up on Thursday, while her parents were at work.

The photo of the young girl has now gone viral.

The medical personnel at Hebolimi health centre in Ghathashi Tehsil in Zunheboto district were pleasantly surprised to see Lipavi, a young girl arrive for a check up.

Lipavi had been experiencing usual cold symptoms the night before, and visited the doc alone since her parents had gone to work in the fields.

The best part was she was all masked up.

She turned up at the health centre and was attended to by the Community Health Officer.

A photo of the little child with the doctor has gone viral on the internet and is rapidly winning hearts.

Benjamin Yepthomi, State President of BJYM Nagaland, shared the photo on twitter while praising the little girl and wrote: “The medical staff were in for a pleasant surprise when 3-year old Miss Lipavi,showed up at the health centre. She reportedly had cold symptoms but since her parents had left for the paddy field,she decided to come all by herself for a checkup at the health center.”

“At a time when adults are reluctant to get themselves tested & vaccinated, little Lipavi, in her innocence,is showing the way forward the rest of us. Responsibility is the need of the hour. I hope & pray that little Lipavi is doing well & in good health! God bless!", he added.

People were impressed by the girl but some were concerned about how she managed to go alone at the age of three.

“It's in the remote village, it's just a walkable distance from home,” Yepthomi responded to those concerned.
