31% of Cabinet Ministers in Modi Government having criminal records

Guwahati, April 21, 2019:

As per the latest revelation of the election watchdog Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW), nearly 31 percent (24 Ministers) of the Union Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-government have criminal cases registered against them.

Among these, 14 Ministers have declared serious criminal cases related to murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and crimes against women registered against them.

The list doesn’t wrap up just here with the Union Cabinet. There are 201 ministers out of 609 in the assemblies in India who have criminal cases recorded against them.

The highest number of criminal records against Ministers have been registered in Jharkhand with 82 percent whereas Uttarakhand is the lowest with 'only' with 25 percent.
