38 protesters killed in Myanmar on bloodiest day since February 1 coup

BURMA: Over 39 protesters have been killed in protests against the Myanmar military’s coup on the bloodiest day since February 1.

Among which at least 22 anti-coup protesters were killed in the industrial Hlaingthaya suburb of Myanmar’s main city yesterday after Chinese-financed factories were set ablaze, according to reports.

While at least 16 protesters were killed in other places, since the military coup imposed on February 1 making it the bloodiest day, Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) was quoted in a media report.

Furthermore, unidentified attackers set fire to garment factories in Hlaingthaya, injuring and trapping many Chinese workers, according to the Chinese embassy.

Myanmar has been urged by the Chinese embassy to protect Chinese property and residents.

China is said to be backing the military junta that has taken power.

Reports also suggest that martial law has been imposed in Hlaingthaya and a nearby district of Yangon, Myanmar's commercial capital and former capital.
