GUWAHATI: A medium-intensity earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted the Northeas7 Indian states around 6 pm on Wednesday (February 17). According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake measured 4.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake originated in Sonitpur district of Assam.

The impact of the tremor was felt in Assam's Guwahati city and several other regions in the Northeast Indian states.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:4.6, Occurred on 17-02-2021, 16:28:55 IST, Lat: 34.44 & Long: 69.55, Depth: 180 Km, Location: 33km ESE of Kabul , Afghanistan," read a tweet by the National Center for Seismology.

 

No damages to property or casualties have been reported so far.

 

This is the second earthquake in the Northeast in the last 48 hours. On February 15, a minor earthquake of 3.4 magnitude had hit Kohima around 5 pm.
