4 militants of banned NLFT held in Tripura with arms

Agartala: Tripura Police late on Monday night arrested 4 militants -- including one self-styled lieutenant of the proscribed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) from Arjunthakur Para are under Takarjala of Sepahijala district in the state.

During preliminary interrogation, the police seized two pistols, 17 rounds of ammunition, 20 NLFT subscription notes, mobiles, and other items from the arrested cadres.

Around four NLFT associates have been arrested recently from Gandacherra and from Raisyabari village of Dhalai district which shares the international boundary with neighboring Bangladesh.

It needs mention here that on December 25, 2020, 4 cadres of NLFT laid down their arm before the police.

They have revealed that from November 2018 to January 2019, as many as 17 militants underwent special training at KYKL (Kanglei Yowl Kanna Lup) camp located at Taga in Myanmar along with other Northeast Indian extremists.

According to top officials, the NLFT is still active across the border and their headquarters are now situated in Bangladesh.
