SRINAGAR: A joint team of security forces on Thursday morning gunned down four suspected terrorists traveling in a truck near Ban Toll Plaza on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
The gunfight began when a truck moving towards Srinagar was intercepted by the security forces at one of the security check points near the Ban Toll Plaza. The vehicular movement on the National Highway was halted after the firing started early morning around 5.00 a.m. Security forces are now investigating where the terrorists boarded the truck.
“Soon after the security personnel started checking of the truck, four terrorists hiding inside a mobile bunker opened indiscriminate firing leading to a fierce gunfight,” an official source informed.
In the ensuing firefight, the security forces reportedly eliminated all four of them, the source added.
“Four terrorists have been neutralized and one Police Constable injured in an encounter at Ban Toll Plaza ,Jammu with #Police #CRPF and #Army. Area is being sanitized,” a tweet sent out from the the Office of IG, Jammu, read.
At present, search operations are going on in the area.
It needs mention here that this is the second operation at the same location this year.
On January 31, 2020 three terrorists were gunned down by the security forces while they were moving towards Kashmir valley and were intercepted by the security forces in a similar manner.
“Whether they had infiltrated recently from across the border or already camping here for some time and moving towards the Kashmir valley in a truck along with huge consignment of weapons”, an official said.
