Addressing a farmers’ rally at Sikar in Rajasthan, Tikait said: “This time the call will be for Parliament gherao. We will announce it and then march towards Delhi. This time, 40 lakh tractors will be there instead of 4 lakh tractors.”
He said the farmers will do farming in the lawns near India Gate and will grow crops. Tikait further threatened that the farmers would demolish the godowns of big companies if the government does not repeal the three laws and does not implement the MSP.
He appealed to farmers to be ready for the march to Delhi as the United Front can announce the call any time. Tikait was addressing the Kisan Mahapanchayat of United Kisan Morcha on Tuesday.
Tikait demanded a new law to ensure minimum support price for farmers.
This was a second threat from Tikait after he had on February 18 said the protesting farmers would take the agitation to the poll-bound West Bengal if the Centre does not abrogate the farm laws. The threat was issued at a maha panchayat at Kharak Punia in Haryana.
Protesting farmers breached barricades to enter Delhi and vandalised property across several parts of the national capital during their Kisan tractor rally on January 26. Altogether 22 FIRs have been filed by Delhi Police with one of them mentioning an incident at ITO where a farmer died after his tractor overturned.
