4,092 new COVID deaths, 4,03,738 fresh cases detects in India in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: As many as 4,092 new fatalities due to COVID-19 and 4,03,738 fresh cases have been reported in India in the past 24 hours.

With this figure, India continued to report more than four lakh daily COVID positive cases for the fourth day in a row.

With the new cases, India's cumulative tally of the infection rose up to 2,22,96,414 and the death toll of the country stands at 2,42,362.

A total of 3,86,444 people infected with the virus have been recovered during the period, pushing the total number of recoveries to 1,83,17,404.

India currently has 37,36,648 active COVID-19 cases.

A total of 30,22,75,471 samples were tested till yesterday, out of which, 18,65,428 were tested on yesterday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

As many as 16,94,39,663 vaccination doses had been administered in India till May 7.
