GUWAHATI: Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,22,367 today as 499 more people tested positive for the infection.

A total of 85 patients infected with the virus also recovered over the past 24 hours.

The state now has 3,613 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,16,284 people have recovered from the disease so far.

The recovery rate in the state now is 97.26 per cent.

The death toll rose to 1,123 as one more person succumbed to the disease during the period. The death was reported from Kamrup (Metro) district.

The new cases have been detected out of 18,323 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Kamrup (M) again topped the chart with 255 cases followed by Kamrup with 31, Tinsukia 24 and Dibrugarh 64 cases.

Assam has so far tested a total of 77,31,871 samples for COVID-19.

A total of 15,50,455 people, including 4,18,600 frontline workers, 3,03,545 healthcare workers and 8,28,310 people above 45 years have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine.

Among those inoculated, 1,19,372 frontline workers, 1,15,130 healthcare workers and 40,570 persons above 45 years have received the second shot of the vaccine.
