Kabul, July 12, 2019:

Six people have been killed and 40 others wounded after a suicide bomber, believed to be in his early teens, targeted a wedding celebration in Afghanistan.

The attack took place in Nangarhar province's Pachiragam district. The attack comes days after a historic peace conference between Taliban insurgents and Afghan representatives saw a pledge to minimise civilian casualties.

The attacker set off his explosives early on Friday inside the house of a pro-government commander.

The Taliban, who has pledged to try to reduce civilian casualties, denied responsibility for the attack. The affiliate of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) has a strong presence in Nangarhar in Afghanistan.

This is not the first time that children have been used to carry out suicide attacks. Earlier this year, two girls and one boy in Nigeria's Borno State were used as suicide bombers in a triple attack.
