GUWAHATI: A 91-year-old woman in Assam has recovered from the deadly COVID-19 infection yesterday after a long fight against the virus.

The 91-year-old has been identified as Snehalata Dutta, a resident of Tinsukia district.

Yesterday she was discharged from Mohkhuli Model Hospital CCC, Tinsukia, as a moderately symptomatic  COVID-19 positive patient.

Sharing this on Twitter the Nation Health Mission (NHM) wrote, "Granny beats

Meanwhile, Assam in the past 24 hours reported 5,835 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 3,40,858.

On the other hand, the state reported 73 more deaths related to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 2,344.

Assam currently has 46,393 active cases of COVID-19.

A total of 2,90,774 patients have so far been recovered from the infection in the state.
