AAMSU Protest Against FT Verdict On Kargil War Veteran

Baksa, May 31, 2019:

All Assam Minority Students’ Union’s (AAMSU) NK Daranga Regional Committee on Friday staged protest against the declaration of Army Captain Mohammed Sanaullah as a foreigner by the Foreigners’ Tribunal (FT) at Darangamela near India- Bhutan Border.

The protestors burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to mark their protest against the action of the FT. They shouted out slogans like “Asom Sarkar Haye Haye”, “Sarbananda Sonowal Murdabaad”, “Border Police Go Back”, so on.

The AAMSU protestors also alleged that many such genuine Indians who belong to the minority community have been declared for foreigner in a similar manner. They have been forcefully sent to the detention camp which is a conspiracy against the minority community, they further alleged.

Along with the Daranga Committee members, AAMSU’s Baksa unit and locals also protested for the same.

It is to be mentioned that Mohammed Sanaullah, a retired captain of the Indian Army from Kolohikas village in Chaigaon, Assam has been declared as a foreigner by the Boko Foreigners’ Tribunal (FT). Sanaullah was taken into custody by the Kamrup Police and currently has is in custody at North Guwahati Police Station after he has been declared as a foreigner by the tribunal.

According to reports, there was a pending case against Sanaullah at the Foreigner’s Tribunal in Boko. As he tried to trace the case at the office of the SP (border), Kamrup Rural, the Foreigners’ Tribunal in Ulubari and in Boko, he finally found out from the Boko FT that the case registered against somebody named Md Samsul Hoque of Agchiya Village in Boko. Sanaullah joined the army before 1987 and served the army for 30 years. He retired on May 31, 2017. He then joined Assam Police in 2018.
