All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) along with 30 organizations has announced to stage a state-wide protest on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Saturday in the state to mark their protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Addressing the media, the AASU Chief Advisor, Samujjal Bhattacharya said, “The one-sided decision of the BJP government on the North Eastern Region will not be accepted no matter what force they apply on us. The protest is to show the unity of the people of North East against the Bill. PM Narendra Modi has passed the bill in the Lok Sabha in a fascist manner. We will stage a massive protest on his visit and wave black flag along with the burning effigy of PM Modi in entire Assam. The people of Assam will not let anyone demolish our language, culture, and identity.”

“The government may spend government’s money to arrange such rallies but people are in their own places
