Kohima, April 28, 2019:

The Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) chairman Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan has claimed that the state of Nagaland has recorded the most peaceful Lok Sabha polls in the country.

While interacting with media persons, Chauhan also claimed that peace has prevailed in the state for nearly a year without a single bullet being fired between the armed forces and the different Naga underground groups. He further stated that the armed groups accepted the CFMG's request not to violate the ceasefire during the election process.

Chauhan also claimed that there has been no exchange of fire between the security forces and the Naga groups or within the NSCN factions in recent times.

The election for the lone Nagaland Lok Sabha seat was held on 11 April.
