Guwahati, June 11, 2019:

After locating the wreckage of IAF AN-32 aircraft on Tuesday, efforts are now on to establish the status of occupants and also survivors if any.

On June 3, the aircraft had got airborne from IAF’s Jorhat Airbase in Assam for Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Indian Air Force launched a massive search operation to trace the whereabouts of the aircraft soon after it was established that it did not reach its destination within the stipulated time.

Official sources on Tuesday finally confirmed that the wreckage of the Indian Air Force’s missing AM-32 has been spotted at the Tato Circle Gatte village at Payum in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district. The aircraft had gone missing after taking off from Assam’s Jorhat on June 3.

Inside Northeast came out with day to day, hour-to-hour, minute-to-minute, second-to-second updates of the incident. Shi Yomi DC has also informed that the wreckage has been spotted at last after extensive search and rescue operations ever since the IAF aircraft went missing on June 3. On that very day at 6:00 pm approx, Inside Northeast had informed that the aircraft had been spotted near Payum in West Siang district.

After many days of searching and trying to locate the aircraft, the official sources have finally admitted that it is at Payum.

But back on June 3, the day when the ill-fated aircraft had gone missing, Air Force officials had denied reports that the aircraft was spotted at Payum. Inside Northeast’s sources turned out to be true and Inside Northeast was first to report that the plane had crashed at Payum. Had the officials heeded Inside Northeast’s report, they need not have declared a sum of Rs. 5 lakh for information on the missing aircraft.

The IAF took one week to locate the missing aircraft whereas Inside Northeast filed the report on the location of the missing aircraft the same day of the incident.
