SHILLONG: Agatha Sangma, the Lok Sabha MP who represents Tura Constituency in Meghalaya, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking justice for Rosy Sangma and Samuel Sangma, two siblings from Dimapur, Nagaland, who died within a space of days under highly suspicious circumstances.

"Prima-facie this appears to be a case of orchestrated homicide, which requires investigation of the highest order to unearth the truth leading to the death of two young persons in their prime.

I, therefore urge upon you to initiate necessary investigation at the earliest and book the perpetrators of the crime in consonance with the law of the land and deliver justice to the grieving family," Sangma wrote to Shah.

The MP in her communique wrote that a couple of days back, Rosy Sangma complained of a medical condition and was taken to the hospital for medical intervention, where she succumbed to it, and her brother Samuel Sangma, who was attending her sensed medical negligence and registered a complaint into the event leading to her death.

"Subsequently, the next day Samuel Sangma was found hanging in his hotel room by his friends, the circumstances leading to his death rose suspicion of foul play and now there is enormous indignation in the public space and call for justice is growing with every passing day," she added.

According to reports, Rosy Sangma had passed away in a Gurugram-based hospital after she was suspiciously fed ‘ice cream’ by the medical staff. Samuel suspected that his aunt had died due to medical negligence. While trying to film the hospital staff’s suspicious actions, Samuel was assaulted.

Samuel later went on Facebook Live to recount his ordeal. He was discovered dead a day later, allegedly hanging himself from the ceiling in the hotel at Gurugram, where he was staying.

Jyoti Kalash, Additional CS and Chief Resident of the Nagaland House in New Delhi has stated that "the Nagaland Government has expressed deep anguish over the incident, which may cause unrest in Nagaland, in particular and in the entire North East, in general."

Meanwhile, the siblings' father has narrated the entire incident by recording himself in which he has given the reference of a video made by his brother-in-law during the altercation of Samuel Sangma with the doctors and nurses in the hospital.

The said video recording has been going viral and has put questions in the minds of people regarding the safety and security of the North-East people in Delhi and Gurugram, where many from Northeast India work.
