Moran, November 19, 2019:

Protests against the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill have been launched in Assam's Moran by the Asom Jatiyabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) during a demonstration. The student body has further demanded the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State to safeguard the interests of the indigenous Assamese.

The student organization, decrying the Bill, stated that they will never allow it to be passed in Parliament. Moreover, the two leaders of the student body heavily condemned Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party, for their apparent indifference to the Bill.

The AJYCP further urged the people of the state to step out of their houses in these times of "crisis" for the people of Assam, and added that the organization would continue to oppose the Bill at all costs.

The AJYCP further stated that the martyrdom of 855 people who participated in the Assam Agitation shall be in vain if the Bill is enacted.
