Guwahati, March 6, 2019:

Shocking allegations have been made against the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi ahead of the Lok Sabha polls by former members of the Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), the student chapter of the KMSS.

Finance Secretary of the SMSS, Hiranya Pathari, who was actively involved in the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill protests with Akhil Gogoi, has alleged that the peasant leader has taken Rs, 3 crores from the Congress party and Rs. 1 crore from the AIUDF ahead of the elections.

Being asked by the media about the reasons for joining the BJP, Pathari said: “Now, my position is that of the BJP party, even in regards to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Akhil Gogoi has taken Rs. 3 crores to support the Congress, the same party which murdered 555 martyrs and turned India into a hub of corruption.”

The former SMSS leader also alleged that Gogoi was the mediator who brought Congress and AIUDF to a ‘secret understanding’. “Akhil Gogoi is supporting Badruddin Ajmal and he has taken Rs. 1 crore from Ajmal too. He acted as a mediator between the Congress and AIUDF. I warned him not to do it as Ajmal has designs to turn Assam into the next Kashmir”, he said.

People of Assam received a rude jolt on Saturday morning after anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Bill protesters, some of whom had stripped naked, joined the BJP here at the BJP headquarters in the city.

The members of the SMSS who joined the BJP today are Hiranya Pathari (Finance Secretary), Manas Chaliha(Planning Strategy), Ajit Hazarika (Organizing Secretary, Dhemaji), Nitul Rabha(Organizing Secretary, Kamrup-R), Ramen Barman (Publicity Secretary Nalbari), Biswajit Bhagavati (Organizing Secretary, Nalbari), Surjya Kumar Saikia (Vice President-Majuli Anchalik Committee), and Parth Jyoti Boro (President-Guwahati Rupnagar Anchalik Committee).
