Akshay Kumar promotes upcoming film with ‘Samaanta ki Laal Bindi’

Akshay Kumar has taken upon himself to bring dignity to the third gender. Kumar will be seen playing the role of a transgender in his upcoming movie Laxmii. The actor along with his leading lady Kiara Advani shared an inspiring video recently and called for people to support transgenders with the ‘Laal Bindi’ initiative.

Kumar took to social media to kickstart the initiative. He shared a photo of himself in which he is seen sporting a red bindi, which is generated through an Instagram filter. The actor urged his fans to use the filter to show their love and acceptance for the third gender.

The actor is playing a man possessed by the ghost of a transgender person in Laxmii. Sharing his photo with a red bindi, Akshay wrote, "Maine toh laga li hai pyaar aur samanta ki Laal Bindi. Now it's your turn to join me using 'Ab Hamari Baari Hai' filter on Instagram as a symbol of love and acceptance for the third gender (sic)."

Producer Tusshar Kapoor was quick to follow. He captioned the image, “Yeh Laal Bindi sirf ek shringar nahi, par samman ki pehchaan hai! Maine toh apna liya, ab aap bhi apnaiye kyunki #AbHamariBaariHai Become a part by using 'Ab Hamari Baari Hai' filter on Instagram as a symbol of love and acceptance for the third gender! Team Laxmii on Saturday reached Delhi for the film's promotion. Laxmii is directed by Raghava Lawrence and is the remake of his southern hit Kanchana. The film is a horror-comedy and is all set to release on Disney+HotstarVIP on November 9, 2020.
