TAMULPUR: A massive bike rally was today flagged off by United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Promod Boro in Baksa district's Tamulpur sub-division. Launching the rally attended by hundreds of supporters, party president Boro lambasted Bodoland People's Front (BPF) supremo Hagrama Mohilary for his alleged misgovernance and "drama."

Taking a swipe at bitter political rival Hagrama Mohilary, Boro said, "In 17 years, all he has done is criticize and condemn others. He has not built any roads or bridges in the region. All he does is drama. In Tamulpur, for instance, there is not a single thing that he has done for the upliftment of the area."

Bodo further alleged that the former BTC Chief has not done anything to uplift the region where the people still live in dread and fear. This, Boro opines, could change if the UPPL party assumes charge.

"This is the ushering in of change and this journey began several days ago and will end soon. The UPPL seeks to rescue people of all communities from the dread created by Hagrama Mohilary," Bodo said, adding that the UPPL has begun an initiative to promote democratic values.

Bodo also claimed that his party's candidates shall win every single Seat in the Tamulpur sub-division. "No other party will win a single seat here. The UPPL will win 5 Seats here and 30 across the BTC and form the Government in the BTC."

Emphasizing the need for "parivartan" (change) in the region, Boro clarified how the UPPL's meaning of the word differs from the BJP party's interpretation of the same word. "Everybody can use this word, but our concepts of change could be different. They perhaps are talking about the change in the existing alliance between the BJP and the BPF. We want a change from the prevailing atmosphere of dread and corruption and to usher in a good atmosphere," Boro said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the elections in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) shall be held on December 7 and 10. Counting of votes shall be held on December 12.
