Amid COVID outbreak, cherry blossoms turn Shillong streets pink

SHILLONG: If it wasn't for the disastrous COVID pandemic, many Indian travelers would've booked tickets to Shillong for this time of the year, with the place looking like an actual painting. Shillong is also one of the favorite destinations for people to watch the streets turn pink from cherry blossoms that bloom this time of the year.

While the annual India International Cherry Blossom Festival held in Shillong has been cancelled this year, the flowers have nevertheless painted the city a marvellous hue of pink.

These beautiful cherry blossoms bloom in the wild but can be seen all over the state at this point in the year.

Every year, the hill station organises the India International Cherry Blossom Festival, reminding people of a sight is similar in China and Japan too.

These flowers being yet another beauty of the northeast, the reasons for people all over the world increase to visit the northeast at least once.

Japan too is renowned for its cherry blossom festivals. During this time of the year, the country turns into a cherry blossom wonderland and is visited by thousands of globetrotters.
