Amit Shah to visit Assam on Thursday; discussions with Koch leader likely: Reports

GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Assam once again on February 11.

According to sources, Union Minister Amit Shah will pay a visit to Koch royal scion Ananta Rai at Bongaigaon during his Assam visit.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Koch Rajbongshis have been demanding the government to grant them Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

It is worth mentioning that this will be the second visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to election-bound Assam in the last fortnight.

Earlier on January 23, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Assam on a 2-day visit.

Amit Shah held a crucial meeting with BJP party workers on January 24.

Later on January 24, Amit Shah also held two public meetings – Kokrajhar and Nalbari. In Kokrajhar, Shah took part in festivities to mark the one-year anniversary of the signing of the third Bodo Accord.
