IMPHAL: The proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was expected to arrive in Imphal on Nov 29, has been postponed, reports said. Shah is likely to visit the state between December 7 and December 14. Shah's visit assumes special significance amid the much-hyped news about the finalization of the Naga peace talks.

Although the exact reason behind the postponement of the Home Minister’s visit to the state is yet to be ascertained, sources said that the visit was postponed as the state government could not prepare on time the bunch of issues to be discussed during his visit.

In addition to this, Chief Minister N Biren is still undergoing home isolation after he was tested positive for COVID-19 a few days back, which may be another reason why Shah's visit was postponed,

Amit Shah, upon his arrival at Imphal, is expected to meet Manipur Governor Dr Najima Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren, Ministers, MLAs, BJP state leaders, other stakeholders including members of CSOs to discuss key issues plaguing the state for decades.
