Chirang, June 24, 2019:

Anjali Daimary, the sister of Ranjan Daimary, chief of militant outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), has alleged that the Indian Armed forces have wrongly apprehended a local woman by accusing her of being a National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) cadre belonging to the Songbijit faction.

Daimary visited the woman's house in Samudisa Village in Assam's Chirang district and addressing the press, said: "The reason we have come here is because on June 16, a lady from this house was nabbed by the Armed forces. She's a mother of 3 kids and the security forces nabbed her in suspicion of being an NDFB cadre belonging to the Songbijit faction. She has been running the family by doing regular labour work after her husband had gone missing", she said.

Anjali Daimary has also accused that the Indian Army has wrongly gunned down youths and claimed them to be NDFB cadres without any concrete proof. She has also alleged that many people have been put behind bars on false pretext.

The apprehended lady cadre was identified as Rishima Narzary, a resident of village Samudisha No 3, under the Ranikhata Police Station.

The Army had stated that while searching the house of Rishima Narzary (locally trained NDFB-S cadre) a pistol, live ammunition and medicines were recovered.

Meanwhile, the banned rebel outfit National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) has claimed that Rishima Narzary, who was apprehended in Chirang on June 16th, 2019, is not a trained cadre of the outfit.

NDFB-S president B. Saoraigwra in a press communiqué claimed that the news of a “trained lady cadre” of the NDFB-S being apprehended in Samudisha village No 3 after a joint operation launched by the Army along with “pistol, live ammunition and medicine” is “false”.
