Guwahati, April 28, 2019:

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has taken a swipe at the populist candidate Kanhaiya Kumar who will be contesting from Begusarai in Bihar on a CPI (M) ticket.

Kher took to his Twitter handle and wrote: "सुना है टुकड़े टुकड़े गैंग का एक सदस्य बेगुसराय से इलेक्शन लड़ रहा है। जो अपने देश का नहीं हो सकता वो आपका क्या होगा?" ('I've heard a member from Tukde Tukde Gang is contesting elections from Begusarai. The one who can not be of his country, how can he be yours?').

Khan's jibe is meant for CPI(M) candidate from Begusarai Kanhaiya Kumar, whose campaign has gained a lot of momentum in recent times and many Bollywood stars (including Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azami, Swara Bhaskar, among others) have been urging the people to vote for Kanhaiya.

Perhaps to counter the outpouring of goodwill towards Kanhaiya from B-town, Kher, whose wife Kirron is a member of the BJP, lashed out at Kanhaiya.

Kher's indirect jibe at Kanhaiya by calling him a member of 'tukde tukde gang' (separatist) gang shows that Kher has perhaps still not recovered from his alleged 'defeat' at the hands of Kanhaiya during a JNU debate.

Meanwhile, Kanhaiya has been raising issues of development, while BJP has gone hardcore Hindutva in Begusarai, where they will field the veteran Giriraj Singh.

Kher's latest attack against Kanhaiya shows that the saffron party is indeed panicking at the political prospects of the political upstart Kanhaiya.

Meanwhile, Kanhaiya is unable to respond to Kher's jibe as we are less than 24 hours away from the election and Kanhaiya is under Election Commission guidelines to not tweet and respond.
