GUWAHATI: Congress MP Abdul Khaleque has turned down heavily on his former colleague Rupjyoti Kurmi over the latter's politics of "apology" after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

"Can he (Kurmi) run the BJP with his own words? I have heard that he has apologized to Akhil Gogoi's nother. I have heard that he will apologize to the RSS. How long can a person do politics by apologizing? Certainly, Rupjyoti is aware. But being aware cannot mean everything. In politics, one needs to stick to one's ideology," Khaleque told newsmen, before going on to opine that Kurmi has "compromised" on his ideology.

Kurmi, son of former Congress minister late Rupam Kurmi, is a prominent member of the tea tribe community. He has been elected from the Mariani constituency since 2006.
