Argentina wins Copa America defeating Brazil 1-0

BRAZIL: Argentina won its first major title since 1993 after 1-0 victory against Brazil in the Copa America final on Saturday, ending two long droughts.

While,Lionel Messi finally won major prize for his country, closing one of the largest gaps in his impressive career.
Rodrigo de Paul’s long ball to ngel di Maria resulted in Argentina’s winning goal at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro in the 22nd minute.
To gain control and lob it past goalkeeper Ederson, the 33-year-old veteran attacker relied on some shoddy defending from left-back Renan Lodi.
The final was far from spectacular, but Lionel Scaloni and his team will be ecstatic to finally win Copa America after a 28-year wait.
Messi, who lost a great opportunity to score with two minutes left, concluded the tournament as the tournament’s joint-top goalscorer with four goals and was named the tournament’s joint best player alongside Neymar.
Then, following a great-through pass by Rodrigo De Paul, Messi had a huge one-on-one opportunity with Ederson, but he missed it, and Martnez had to make a huge save to prevent Gabigol from scoring the equaliser.

Argentina’s goal in injury time was to run out the clock, which they achieved successfully.

The final whistle blew, and Lionel Messi’s eyes welled up with tears.

He has finally achieved his goal for his country, completing one of the greatest individual tournament performances in history with a trophy he has deserved for a long time.
