It may be mentioned that there were wide apprehensions in the Northeastern states after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in Kashmir, which provided constitutional safeguards to the local populace.

In response to the panic-situation in the Northeast after the abrogation of Article 371 in Kashmir, Development of North Eastern Region, North East India MDoNER Jitendra Singh, said, “Article 371 itself says I’m temporary in the Constitution. There is no similarity between 370 and and the one that applies to the Northeast. The government is not going through a numerical process of abrogation of the articles. Abrogation of Article 370 does imply that Article 371 will be abrogated.”
