Itanagar, February 25, 2020:

The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has called for a 12-hour ‘bandh’ on February 28 to oppose the Arunachal State Government’s inaction to its constant demands to probe the job scandals of the state Staff Selection Board (APSSB) and the border dispute with neighboring Assam.

The tribal body has cited the Pema Khandu-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s “apathy” towards their demand of scrapping the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board. According to the Nyishi association, the board is “filled with corrupt officers.”

The tribal body has also demanded the settlement of border dispute between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in Dollungmukh under Kamle district.

ANYA president Byabang Joram has demanded that all the senior officials of the Board be suspended until inquiry is completed on the alleged corruption.

Joram said, “Removing the chairman and other members of the APSSB is an eye wash to quell the public and aspirants. How can there be free and fair investigation when officers involved in the fiasco are given new assignments? Everyone should be suspended and arrested.”

The Nyishi body has also urged the state government to review the UDC exam held by the APSSB, which they believe have anomalies.  Joram further claimed that the government had lied to the public about implementation of district-wise quota in APSSB.

The All Nyishi Youth Association has raised several demands such as the rolling back of the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) procurement, immediate construction of Trans-Arunachal Highway between Potin-Bopi road and Joram to Koloriang road as per DPR, and early notification of Puchi Geku, Muri Mugli and Gepen administrative circles under Kamle district and adequate police personnel in the areas.

The tribal body has also demanded the settlement of border dispute between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in Dollungmukh under Kamle district. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix termed the bandh called by ANYA on February 28 as ‘illegal’.

He said that the Nyishi body is unwilling to talk and solve the issues. It needs mention here that ANYA had declined the Home Minister’s invitation for a meeting. “When the government is ready to initiate a dialogue, why are they not ready for it?” he questioned.

Briefing the media on ANYA’s demand on the Assam-Arunachal border dispute, Felix said that the state government was aware of the inter-state boundary skirmish with the Assam government officials in Dollungmukh.

He informed that the Assam side had been intimated about maintaining the status quo on border dispute. “The government of Arunachal Pradesh has written to the Assam government to maintain status quo on the boundary question,” he said.
