Arunachal: Girl arrested for cheating in Staff Selection Board exam
ITANAGAR: A girl has been arrested for cheating in the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board’s surveyor recruitment examination (APSSB), while two others were arrested for helping her.
The junior estimator/draughtsman (Grade 3) exam was held on 17 July, and the exam for surveyors was held on 18 July.
Arunachal capital police have arrested the candidates on July 18 from the Dera Natung Government College examination centre (DNCG).
The candidate has been identified as– Takoni Dodum (28) from Arunachal, while those who helped her were her cousin Sunny Dodum (38), from Arunachal and his friend Neyaz Ahmed (31) from Assam’s Bongaigaon.
Takoni Dodum was appearing for the examination in Room No 25 of the DNGC centre.
Briefing the press Itanagar Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Jimmy Chiram said, “On July 18 around 12.30 pm, a female candidate had been caught cheating by using her phone during the examination in DNCG centre. We have received a written FIR from centre superintendent N Pramanik, following which we take up immediately.”
SI AK Jha immediately visited the exam centre and recorded the statements of key witnesses and made a seizure of a blue Samsung S10 mobile phone which the candidate used for cheating in the examination along with the alleged accused.
A case has been registered against Takoni Dodum under Sections 417 (for cheating) and 188 (disobeying government order) IPC,” the SP said.
Police also seized the phones of Sunny and Ahmed and a notebook where the answers were being written and photos of them being sent to the candidate.
SP Jimmy Chiram also pointed out that the centre had invigilators, magistrates as well as observers on duty.
The police also seized a total of 28 jammers installed at the examination centre, and camera footage of the room to ascertain how the entire incident took place.
