Arunachal-made IMFL liquors seized in Charaideo and Golaghat districts

Guwahati: Huge consignments of Arunachal-made foreign liquor were seized in the Assam districts of Golaghat and Charaideo, officials said.

Under the aegis of Excise Intelligence Bureau, Sadar Excise Circles conducted a raid against influx of Arunachali liquor in Assam's Charaideo District on Thursday.

Acting on tip-off sleuths of Charaideo, Sapekhati, Sivsagar sadar Excise circles under direction from Superintendent Excise Sivsagar intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS01 LC 8788.

The vehicle was carrying 900 cases of McDowell Celebration Rum 750 ML (Arunachali Liquor Made) and detained the vehicle driver 1 km ahead of Sepon Tiniali in Charaideo.

"The vehicle driver will be court produced at the CJM court of Sonari," an official said.

In another incident, a vehicle carrying 260 cartons of Arunachali made IMFL liquors was detained by the sleuths of the Golaghat Sadar Excise Circle.

Notably, the revenue collection for the month of October has been reported to be around Rs 215 crore, which is recorded to be the highest till date.

As per Government data, revenue collection for the year 2019 in the month of October was Rs 123 crore.

Interestingly, the overall revenue collection for this year is around Rs 970 crore, whereas, compared to the last financial year till October it was around Rs 924 crore.

On the directions of the Assam Excise department, several illegal factories, godowns and consignments of illegal Arunachali made liquors was seized by the department on various occasions in the state.

Earlier during Durga Puja, the department had also successfully busted illegal factories and godowns and huge consignments of Arunachali made liquors in the outskirts of Guwahati city.

Meanwhile, Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya hailed the department for carrying out this successful operation in Upper Assam ahead of the Diwali celebrations.
