ITANAGAR: A man from Arunachal Pradesh with two wives poured out his frustration in a video over lockdown restrictions as he has been finding it difficult to manage two families amid the restrictions.

In the video, Manning Gida said that he has two families, one in Itanagar and another one in Naharlagun.

Due to the restrictions in movements, Gida has not been able to look after both the families like he used to.

“There are many people like me who are facing the same problems as polygamy is common in Arunachal Pradesh”, he explained.

“Shall we leave our families to starve just because we not allowed to move?” Gida questioned the government.

In the video, he further questioned the government that what would he do in an emergency situation.

He urged the police department and the concerned authorities to make rules and regulations considering the customs and traditions of the state as a universal rule may not be applicable everywhere.

The state government extended the ongoing lockdown in the Itanagar region till June 21 to curb the spread of COVID infections.

The vehicles are allowed to ply on till 3 pm as per the order of the government.

Shops are allowed to open on a rotation basis till 2 pm. Only the people rendering essential services are allowed to move during the curfew hours.

Arunachal Pradesh is a tribal state and polygamy is a common practice. Amid the restrictions, many citizens are struggling to maintain multiple families.
