On searching the vehicle, the police recovered four packets of suspected heroin, weighing 41.35 gram. The search was carried out in the presence of local magistrate and independent witness.

After seizing the recovered drugs, the police  team led by Doimukh SDPO Bomken Basar and Doimukh PS OC Inya Ete as per the direction from SP Dr Neelam Nega, arrested the the two accused initially.

The accused have been identified as Nima Wangchu, driver of the Department of Indigenous Affairs, GoAP and  as Suraj Kengal, who works as a cook at prime suspect Yayi Lendo Jomoh’s house, the SDPO informed.

He further informed that the accused, upon preliminary investigation,  revealed that they procured the suspected drugs at the cost of Rs 1lakh from Kanubari following directions from their financier Jomoh.

It was also revealed that out of the four heroin packets, three were to be delivered at 6 Kilo area and the fourth one was to be delivered to the main supplier Yayi Lendo at her rented house at Abotani Colony, Itanagar.

Following the leads, another joint team of police from Itanagar and Papum Pare

arrested three others drug peddlers including Horjum Doke (brother of Yayi Lendo Jomoh), Takar Kabak and Naren Chetry from the 6 Kilo area.

After searching Yayi Lendo's house, the police recovered 184 empty vials (used for selling drugs), one injection, two dummy pistols possibly with lighter and a cash of Rs 52,000, which is suspected to be the proceeds from drug sale, were recovered, the SDPO said.

“Quantity of the recovered narcotic items matters a lot in how strong the case is going to be against the person. Also if there is any procedural lapse in the case by the investigating officer, the case becomes weak,” he said speaking of how habitual offenders get away easily, said Bomken Basar SDPO, Doimukh.

He informed that a case  has been registered at Doimukh Police Station.
