ARUNACHAL PRADESH: NSCN(U) CADRE APPREHENDED

Based on specific input about movement of National Socialist Council of Nagaland(U) cadre in Naharani Basti in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh for tax collection, a team of Assam Rifles along with police from Charaipun police station laid an ambush. One of the cadre entered the ambush site and when challenged, the cadre tried to escape into the dense forest. However, he was finally overpowered. The apprehended cadre has been identified as self styled corporal Sawang Lowang of Noktegaon village in Tirap District.

On interrogation of the cadre, revealed his involvement with subversive activities of NSCN(U) under self styled captain Phauran Ramua and self styled 2nd Lt Passang Kamua. One .32 auto pistol, five live rounds of .32 ammunition and one mobile phone with sim was recovered from his possession. The cadre was later handed over to Charaipun police.
