Arunachal Pradesh schools to remain closed till May 31 due to surge in COVID cases

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced closure of schools and hostels all over the state from April 26 in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases.

With this, all government, government-aided and private schools including hostels in the state shall now remain closed till May 31 and will open only after summer vacations on June 1.

Moreover, all District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), including hostels, for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) students, shall also remain closed during the period.

However, online classes for D.El.Ed courses shall continue.

The internal examinations held so far in government schools will be counted for purpose of assessment for the students and the rest of exams which were to be held from April 26 stand cancelled.

The government-aided and private schools can however decide on the mode of assessment, including holding of examinations from or after April 26, but only in online mode.

Teachers are however been asked to attend the evaluation work for maintaining proper SOPs as and when called by head of the institution.

On the other hand, the result declaration after due evaluation with respect to the internal examination shall be done by 5 pm on May 8 “without fail”.

All the coaching centres, including hostels, in the state shall also remain closed with immediate effect.

At least 134 more people, including 10 security personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh yesterday, which took the tally in the state to 17,430.
