ITANAGAR: Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu today arrived Arunachal Pradesh for a three-day visit. VP Naidu addressed the ‘special’ session of the State Legislative Assembly of Arunachal.

A special Indian Air Force aircraft carrying the Vice-President landed at the Raj Bhavan helipad, where he was accorded a warm and traditional welcome by state Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona and others.

Vice President, accompanied by the Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries, paid a visit to Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum here. He had a glimpse into the ‘fascinating’ culture of different tribes of Arunachal displaying artifacts, tribal lifestyles, traditions and aesthetics.

“I am extremely happy to visit this excellent museum, one of the largest ethnographic museums in the world. It offers a unique window on the historical legacy and the cultural treasures of this state. Very informative and engaging, educative and inspirational,” Vice President Naidu wrote in the guests’ comment book.

Apart from addressing the special Assembly session, Naidu will inaugurate the Assembly library, Dorjee Khandu Auditorium and the paper recycling unit installed at the Assembly complex.

Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has called for creating awareness among youngsters on the need to refrain from getting addicted to digital devices like mobile phones. Vice president also interacted with achievers in different fields, including writers, educators, social workers, entrepreneurs and mountaineers at Raj bhawan Itanagar.He said that children and young adults need to be cautioned against constant use of digital devices and overdependence on the internet “as it will kill creativity and original thinking.”Naidu urged celebrities in different fields to take the lead in educating youngsters about social evils like gender discrimination and drug addiction.

“They should also be made aware of the adverse effects of climate change and the need to protect nature and water bodies,” he added.He also emphasized the need to encourage Indian sports like kabaddi, and urged the youths to remain physically fit and inculcate an attitude of “sharing and caring.”

Tame Phassang Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation expressed his happiness on behalf of people of Arunachal to witness the visit of great personality like Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
