Arunachal’s Pasighat Market Flooded with Fake Cosmetics and Adulterated Pulses

Several cases of selling duplicate and adulterated food materials and cosmetics have been reported from the Pasighat market in frontier state Arunachal Pradesh.

The Pasighat Vendor Market President has alleged that the Bindeshwar Singh wholesellers in their outlets, along with some other Cosmetics vendors, of selling these items.

Pasighat Vegetable Market Vendor President, Rinzing Taloh and one youth, Kaye who came across the report, alleged that the shop of Bindeswar Singh is selling these items. A video footage showing 'moong dal' getting discolored upon mixing with water, has also surfaced.

The shop owner categorically denied the allegations, saying they have not sold such items. Also, one of the most popular shop of Pasighat market has also been accused of selling contaminated packaged drinking water in the past. The complainant said, "when we had questioned the shop owner about the selling of such items some days ago, they had confessed to selling it." Rinzing Taloh and Kaye have stated that instead of feeling guilty, the shop owners have resorted to rudeness towards the people for exposing them.

Meanwhile, the department of Food Safety from District Medical Office has sent a staff to collect samples for "quality check."

Similarly, cases of selling duplicate cosmetic items were also discovered in the market by some of cosmetic shops, and some of the shopkeepers have also been taken into police custody.

Reportedly, the duplicate cosmetics are supplied from Bangladesh or Myanmar through Silapathar of Assam.
