All Assam Students' Union (AASU) leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi, weighing in on the Delhi elections won by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for a 3rd consecutive time, said that the BJP party's defeat is a "victory of democracy".

Talking to Inside Northeast, Gogoi said that people have given their mandate and voted in high numbers for the AAP due to the BJP's "anti-people" policies. However, he feels that the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has also been buoyed by its success in implementing various developmental issues.

"Look, development is definitely a factor. At the end of the day, people want good policies, health, education, a robust economy. They do not care about votebank politics and polarization", Lurin told us.

Commending the AAP Government's revolutionary education schemes, Lurin said that what Arvind Kejriwal has built should become the ideal model for the rest of India. "The Delhi Government, in this age of soaring prices in the education sector where poor people struggle to send their wards to good schools, has done something unbelievable. When you look at their schools, you get the feeling of premier private institutions."

Also opining that the BJP has been hurt due to its politics of polarization, Lurin said that the policies of the ruling power has been rejected outright by the "informed" people of Delhi. " They are using Pakistan to earn votes...my question to them is, why do you keep your energies focused on Pakistan and not on some other more pressing concerns? Their regime has fomented inequality and their social media engine is running on full throttle, spreading misinformation and fake news..that is how they secure their votes, through fear and domination..."

Lambasting the BJP for disrespecting the common junta, Lurin stated that the BJP's lack of respect has landed the country's economy in complete doldrums. "Disinvestment, profit-making agencies have left the economy in doldrums...the poor and downtrodden have been affected the worst. So, while the BJP has imperiled the masses with mismanagement of financial resources, Arvind Kejriwal has concentrated more on water, electricity, industrialization...the real issues. By turning this country into a capitalist economy, they have hurt all but the uber-rich."
