Assam: 15 air passengers test COVID positive in Dibrugarh, DC demands "thorough checking"

DIBRUGARH: Amid the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases among the air passengers coming from outside the state, the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh Pallav Gopal Jha held a meeting on November 25 in the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall to discuss measures that can be taken to control the virus.

In view of the increasing number of positive cases in the district, especially the passengers coming from outside the state by air and train, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials to thoroughly monitor each and every passenger at the airport and railway station and ensure their strict quarantine till their RT-PCR report is out.

The Deputy Commissioner further instructed the ASHA workers to ensure quarantine of every person who comes into contact with any positive cases.

The Dibrugarh district of the state recorded 32 cases on Wednesday out of which 15 cases were recorded from the airport and 4 were railway passengers.

It needs mention here that Assam’s COVID-19 tally reached 212021 after 182 new cases have been detected on Wednesday. The positivity rate dipped to 0.75 percent in the state, tweeted Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Of the new cases, Kamrup (M) reported 64 cases. The cases have been detected out of the 24426 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, 117 patients have been discharged today after recovery taking the active cases to 3277 while on November 25, two people succumbed to the disease taking the death toll to 978 in the state.
