Assam: A tigress terrorises a small village near India-Bhutan border. Here's why

Baksa 9th May:

Villagers of an area near Nagrijuli are roaming about with axes and other weapons in their hands. They are scared that a tiger that has been terrorising their village might come out again. In this village near the India-Bhutan border, man and animal conflict has taken a front seat amid the lockdown.

The tigress roams by the night and the villagers out of fear have remained indoors. The cattle have also been closely monitored. The authorities and the forest department have taken stock of the developments.

The question is why the tigress has become so aggressive?

The incident is not just a man vs wild conflict. Speaking to Inside Northeast, villagers allege that although the authorities are handling the matter, on 2nd May, when the first attack happened, there were certain lapses shown. The cub of the tigress attacked a villager and in that altercation. After this, it died from suffocation. The forest department is said to have shown up more than an hour later until which the damage was already done.

Following the death of its cub, the tigress has become violent as believed by the locals of the area. Speaking to Inside Northeast, "I can hear the cries of the tiger at night", an octogenarian said.
