Assam: ABVP National Executive Joins Protest Against Citizenship Amendment Act

Guwahati, December 15, 2019:

The National Executive of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s (ABVP) Northeast wing, Moon Talukdar, has joined the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Guwahati.

He said that he has not yet filed his resignation so that the ABVP gets to know that the National Executive of the ABVP’s regional wing is against the CAA.

He also announced that around 800 members would resign in opposition to the government’s move to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

It may be mentioned here that Moon was elected from Gauhati University and following the widespread mass opposition of the CAA for the betterment of the state of Assam, he, along with 800 other members, has decided to quit the ABVP.

While speaking at a press conference today in Guwahati, ABVP’s National Executive informed that the Students’ Union will be organizing a mass protest in Gauhati University on December 18.

“We have decided to stop the supply of oil and coal from Assam to the neighboring areas for the next ten days. This protest, this Andolan will continue for the next ten years if the Citizenship (Amendment) Act is not scrapped,” he added.
