GUWAHATI: Assam villagers living in Hailakandi district bordering Mizoram have alleged that the latter has started to construct a road inside the territory of Assam secretly.

As per reports, a road has been constructed from Phaisen village of Kolasib district of Mizoram to Bilaipur of Hailakandi in Assam since the past few days post July 26 flare up.

However, Mizoram police have denied the allegation of road construction inside the territory of Assam.

Vanlalfaka Ralte, Superintendent of Police of Kolasib district has said that these roads are being constructed as per an agreement of both the village councils of Phaisen and Bilaipur. The district of Kolasib shares the boundary with Hailakandi district in Assam.

Notably, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday in Assam Assembly had stated that border tension flared up on July 26, after Assam police tried to stop the construction of a road by Mizoram police in the Inner-Line Forest located inside the territory of Assam in Cachar district

The border situation in Assam-Mizoram has worsened on Friday when two schools located in Hailakandi districts were bombed by suspected miscreants from Mizoram.
