Based on a specific input regarding presence of a cadre, Troops of Indian Army in a joint operation with Assam Police apprehended a cadre of ULFA(I) near Ouguri village in Dibrugarh district of Assam on June 11.

The apprehended cadre has been identified as Babul Gogoi, r/o Vill No. 2 Nachani Gaon, Tingkhong in Dibrugarh District. The team also recovered one Point 22mm Pistol, one magazine, eight cordex and fourteen detonators during the operation. It is suspected that the cadre was actively involved in money laundering and recruitment for ULFA(I) in Upper Assam.

The apprehended person along with recovered stores have been handed over to Dibrugarh Police Station for further investigations.

Earlier in Assam

The 9 Rajputana Rifles regiment of Army apprehended a suspected cadre of the anti-talk faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Tingkhong in Dibrugarh in Assam. The cadre was apprehended on May 28th, 2020.

The troops recovered a pistol and two Improvised Explosive Devises (IED) from the possession of the cadre. Later, the IEDs were diffused by the bomb squad at the Polo ground field.

ON May 25th, 2020, the troops of the Indian Army in a joint operation with Assam police busted a recruitment racket of banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). The troops also rescued a minor from Charaideo district of Upper Assam on May 25th, 2020.

The apprehended persons have been identified as SS Pvt Baldev Teli, a ULFA(I) cadre and Amit Bara, Sumit Baig, Azad Gohran and Vijay all OGWs. The apprehended persons were allegedly involved in a recruitment racket in the region. The rescued minor has been handed over to his parents in the presence of villagers after counseling.

The teams also recovered one 7.62 mm Pistol, 2 rounds of ammunition, mobile phones and SIM cards.

The parents appreciated the efforts of security forces and also expressed their gratitude for the compassion in the safe return of their ward. The apprehended individuals and recovered items have been handed over to Assam police for further investigations.
