Assam: Bachelors' Party at Tinsukia's Hotel Sapphire turns ugly, 1 youth stabbed to death

TINSUKIA: While a wedding was underway in Hotel Sapphire in Tinsukia town in Upper Assam, a brawl at a bachelor's party held in the hotel on the same night claimed the life of one unfortunate youth after daggers were brought out to 'resolve' an argument.

Sensation now prevails in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district where a youth was killed during a brawl at the wedding, allegedly by the friend of a security guard who worked there.

According to reports, the youth was killed after a fight broke out at a bachelors' party for a wedding that was held at Hotel Sapphire in Tinsukia's Sirapatri. After a fight broke out, 3 were grievously injured while the youth -- identified as Sunil Mandal -- succumbed to his injuries.

Police personnel from the Tinsukia Police Station later reached the hotel and arrested the Manager of Hotel Sapphire as well as two watchmen.

A local of the area said that the attackers was a friend of a security guard who worked at the building. "At least 4 people were attacked with dagger. The groom's driver, a contractor, and two others were attacked after an argument broke out. I believe some of the people in the brawl were drunk."

Police was informed about the dead of the night. An official said that two of the youths were seriously injured. "Two were admitted to the Tinsukia Civil Hospital, while the other two were referred to the Dibrugarh Medical College. One of them died on the way," he said.

Police officials also informed that a bachelor's party was organized alongside the wedding, and many of the guests were in an inebriated state.
